Children's Day is the last celebration in Golden Week and occurs on the 5th of May.
Children's Day was introduced after World War II. It celebrate's that the children are now safe.
Originally Children's Day started out as a celebration called 'Boy's Festival', but eventually changed to include girls as well.
Traditions on Children's Day include:
- Bathing with plant leaves
- Eating Sweets (as shown below)
- Offerings such as dumplings
- Festivals
- Toy giving
